How to Spend Valentine’s Day in NYC

I absolutely love Valentine’s Day. I know many believe it to be cheesy or a “Hallmark” holiday, but I think its a sweet day filled with warm fuzzy love. The hearts, the sweet treats, everything pink, my inner girly girl loves the energy around the extra festive holiday. Whether I am at home cozy with my kids, or planning an extra special date night with my husband I love celebrating the love we share. I’ve gathered some unique ideas around New York City to celebrate the loves in your lives. These are the best things to do in New York for February 14th.

Magnolias Red Velvet Pudding

We all know and love Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding, but in February Magnolia offers the most delicious Red Velvet Banana Pudding. For the first year ever they’re even shipping it nationwide! Magnolia bakery is our household favorite for a sweet treat in the city, and this festive option is a Valentines Day must! It totally beats the candy store as one of the best places, in my opinion!

Pink Pier

What’s a more perfect place to spend galentine’s day at than the Pink Pier! I suggest this with friends because it’s more of a stop by and enjoy cocktails and bites rather than a romantic place. The views are out of this world and the photo opps are up there too! It’s back by popular demand and always so fun to check out at The Watermark.

broadway

Broadway

Nothing says v-day romance quite like a date night. My husband and I love to see new shows and one fun idea is to participate in the Broadway Week deals! You can get tickets at 2 for the price of one, making it the perfect opportunity to see those shows you’ve had your eye on. Check out the Broadway portion of our site to see which shows we’re loving lately!

Rubirosa Heart Pizza

New York City is definitely known for its New York style slice of pie, and though pizza is delicious all year round, its extra special on valentines day. Head over to Rubirosa for a heart shaped pizza pie. Rubirosa is a New York City staple and is the best date idea if you’re looking for a festive but casual Valentines Day meal. If you’re skipping the decadent dinner, this is a great option for the night.

Tache Chocolate Making Class

Gifting chocolates on Valentines Day is an old and sweet tradition. But gifting a chocolate making class is gifting a super fun shared experience. I’ve always been so impressed with the  craft work that chocolatiers use to create these little bite size treats. A chocolate making class will help you create memories to last forever! For those searching for unique ways to express your love, this is a good idea!

La Goulue

Need a reservation idea? This delicious French bistro is one of the best in town and they have a prix fixe menu created by Chef Antoine Camin for Valentine’s Day! Decide from options like pétatou de chêvre, tarte tatín, carnaroli risotto and more for $110/person. The duck, fish, caviar and dessert specials are the ultimate treat for the special day!

AIRE Ancient Baths

Nothing quite like treating your Valentine to a spa. AIRE is like no other spa experience. A true magical oasis among our urban jungle. In a gently lit cavern this experience will have you feeling like a Greek or Roman god! Services include massages, olive essence ritual, a wine bath, Himalayan salt rituals, and so much more. It truly will be a Valentines Day experience your date will remember forever. The perfect way to relax and wind down is a good time at the spa.

Cooking Class At The Institute Of Culinary Education

We’ve always been told how sexy it can be to get in the kitchen together and that “The way to a mans heart is through his stomach!”. So lets spice things up in the kitchen! The Institute Of Culinary Education offers many options to explore new recipes and techniques with your special someone. Whether you take a classic cooking class, a baking class, or a wine class, you’re bound to heat things up! They pick a special menu and teach you new skills, so it’s a the perfect way to learn something new over delicious food.

ballet

The New York City Ballet

There’s nothing quite as classic and romantic as a date to the ballet. Whether you’re treating your mom, sister, or your sweet someone,  the ballet its bound to be a magical evening. The music, costumes, and of course dancing with help you relax and escape our busy NYC lives to another world. Swan Lake opens on Valentines Day this year and is a true ballet classic everyone should get this unforgettable experience.

Ice Skating In Central Park

An image right out of a romantic movie, ice skating in central park is an iconic NYC date idea. Central Park can sometimes be described as the heart of our city. The real jungle to our urban jungle. Take your valentine out for a special skating experience with some of the most peaceful views in all of NYC. Follow it with a romantic walk through the park with some hot chocolate and tasty bites nearby. I always love to see the surprise proposals here.

Dinner at Delmonico’s

Jason and I love Delmonico’s and have them on our list for a Valentine’s Day date night! I was thrilled to hear that they have a special menu for the day of love. It features Oysters, Hamachi Crudo, Smoked Beef Tartar, Beet Risotto, Lobster Newberg, Filet Mignon, Bone-in Ribeye, a Porterhouse for two and a twist on a Baked Alaska with banana gelato on walnut cake with apricot jam. This is available for $195+ per person and some of the best food in town! Be sure to book a reservation for this ASAP as they will fill up!

Dining in the Dark

This is a brand new dining experience and I think it is so interesting! They are all about the senses and if you take away your sense of sight, your taste is greater. So you enjoy your meal blindfolded to have a whole different tasting experience. Just don’t spill your glass of wine!

Signature Dinner Cruise

One other dining option is to go for the NYC skyline views and hop on a romantic cruise for dinner! Glide past iconic landmarks while you dine. There’s a special menu wit more options for VIP, a bar, live music, wifi and so much more. This is one of those things you don’t do everyday so it’s a fun new ting to try out while seeing new views of the city of New York.
