Taking family photos has become one of our favorite fall traditions. Every year, as the air turns crisp and the city starts to glow in warmer tones, we carve out time to capture this season of our lives together. Fall in New York just feels right for photos—layered textures, softer light, and that unmistakable sense of change that makes each year feel meaningful.
We’re lucky to have Davi Livingston fly in from Utah to photograph us. She has an incredible way of making the experience feel effortless while capturing moments that feel honest and timeless. Every year, I choose an iconic NYC spot. I’ve been doing this for years, this year we chose Greenwich Village, right near my favorite building on the corner of Greenwich and 11th Street. It’s covered in climbing vines that feel especially magical in the fall, adding a romantic, lived-in backdrop that couldn’t be more New York.

Our outfits leaned into rich, autumn tones while still feeling elevated. The girls wore short velvet dresses that felt classic yet playful, perfect for the season. I wore a gold sequin Loveshackfancy gown that caught the light beautifully, adding a little sparkle to the city streets. My husband and son wore shades of brown to tie everything together, grounding the look and making the whole palette feel cohesive without being too matchy.

Looking back at these photos each year is a reminder of how quickly time moves and how special it is to pause and document it. The kids grow, styles evolve, and the city changes—but this fall ritual stays the same. It’s less about perfection and more about preserving a feeling, one that we’ll always associate with autumn in New York and our family, right where we are.
