When I received an invite from The Moms that we would be going to Cancun Mexico on a press trip, the first thing I thought of was visiting Cancun for “spring break” my junior year in high school. I worked and saved every penny for that trip, as this was the requirement from my parents since it was my first real trip on my own, and to another country for that matter.
This recent trip to Mexico was pretty much the polar opposite than when I was in high school, except for the vacationing with girlfriends part. The partying was replaced with luxurious dinners, and the lack of sleep was replaced with hours spent at the spa just relaxing. I rediscovered Mexico that weekend and cannot wait to go back with my family. It was the ultimate mom getaway and I realized how important it is for us moms to press that reset button and recharge.
Our home for the weekend was Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa. This resort is one of their family friendly property’s offering upscale amenities, all inclusive dining, and an unlimited amount of activities throughout the day. I was immediately wowed when I entered my suite featuring a jacuzzi on the balcony. Yeap! Some rooms even have their own private pools, something I would totally get if I come back with my family. How great would it be if you little one naps and you can still enjoy pool time!
The all-inclusive idea is something I feel has come a long way since its existence. There’s something to be said for going on a vacation and not having to worry about a thing once you step foot on the resort. I didn’t have to worry about paying for any drinks, food, or activities while there. In fact, I left my wallet in the room the entire time, with the exception of tips and doing a little shopping. Guests may choose from six à la carte gourmet restaurants, a buffet venue, a grill and a café as well as 24-hour room service. The room service was something I took advantage of, especially during the morning hours. I would wake up early enough to FaceTime the kids, have my morning coffee on the balcony, and get some work done before I had to conquer the day of relaxation and fun.
Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa is a luxurious getaway for couples, friends and families designed to reflect the charm of the Mexican Caribbean. Surrounded by glistening pools, lush tropical gardens and a white sand beach, this resort defines unlimited-luxury with an array of amenities for every age and interest. And it’s ideally located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and just a short 20 minute drive south of Cancun Airport.
Some of the highlights during my trip was getting a first hand lesson on how to make guacamole. We each got to make our own and was able to sample one another, as no two guac’s ever taste the same, even with the same ingredients! The biggest decision we needed to make at Dreams Resorts was if we wanted a beach hut or poolside one. Melissa from The Moms taught us a yoga class one morning that left me feeling amazing and also realizing I really need to get back into my yoga routine.
We also had a chance to experience Dreams Resorts sister property Secrets Silversands. Secrets Silversands is an adult only property and perfect for couples wanting to get away sans the children. We spent the day there, visiting their World Class Spa by Pavonia for a day of pampering. The Secrets Spa by Pevonia treats their guests with dozens of pampering choices and allows you to experience pure indulgence through a combination of the latest hydrotherapy and indigenous treatments. I was immediately wowed when entering Secrets Silversands sleek modern lobby and luxe Spa.
Secrets Silversands is a perfect seaside escape. Surrounded by warm crystal waters, this is an adults-only resort featuring expansive pool areas complete with swim-out suites and manicured gardens. Designed for young souls with sleek and chic décor, Secrets Silversands boasts the largest suites in the Riviera Maya, most with ocean views. This AAA Four Diamond resort boasts an array of enticing amenities that range from exceptional gourmet dining and top-shelf spirits to daily poolside activities and exciting nightlife.
On our way back to the resort we had a chance to stop in Puerto Morelos for some shopping and souvenirs. The Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort also holds a little market twice a week for guests that do not want to leave the resort but want to bring a piece of Mexico home with them. I always make it a point to bring my children home a little something when I travel without them.
Overall, it was great getting to know our intimate group of women, I now call my girlfriends. We all learned so much from each other during our 4 day getaway. And I am so grateful for the work I do and to be around women who are so inspiring and make you re-discover that love and passion for what you are doing and why you are doing it. After spending this time alone, I came home and was ready to conquer the world! Thank you to The Moms for an unforgettable weekend of sunshine, relaxation, and fun girl time.

Thank you so much to Dreams and Secrets Resorts for hotel and airfare accommodations. All opinions are, as always, my own.

Hello weekend getaway. My girlfriends and I so need this. How long do you recommend staying there in order to see everything?
What a nice break this must have been for you. So glad you got a little R&R out of it.
Your trip looked heavenly! How my hubby and I are planning a getaway. Which resort would you recommend more the Secrets or Dreams?
