Last week, I attended the Two Charities, One Mission charity gala concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom. This was the first year the R Baby Foundation joined forces with Michael’s Mission to raise awareness for pediatric emergency care as well as colorectal cancer research. Michael’s Mission is focused on improving the quality of life and treatment options for those suffering from colorectal cancer through education, research, and patient support.
The 80’s theme benefit was meant to combine two charities with one goal. There was a silent and live auction, drinks and food, and live entertainment from Rev Run from Run DMC and Jessie’s Girl to name a few. The concert was a huge success with over 1000+ guests all gathered together making an impact and saving lives.
I’ve been supporting the R Baby Foundation for quite sometime now. The foundation was created after Phyllis and Andrew Rabinowitz tragically lost their infant daughter due to a misdiagnosis in a hospital emergency room. Setting out to ensure no other family would have to face losing a child who could have been saved with proper emergency pediatric training, they created the R Baby Foundation!
The R Baby Foundation is in its 12th year adding to so many important advancements in the field! The foundation has helped over 6000 doctors and 750 hospitals, that are participating in R Baby funded programs, by getting them training and education. Physicians who undergo these programs are three times more successful on specific procedures after they have received their training provided by the R Baby Foundation!
The R Baby Foundation has now expanded and collaborated with Massachusetts General Hospital on the findERnowTM mobile app. The app provides users with the distance and directions from their current location to the closest ERs that are more likely to be prepared for babies and children! You can download the app here FindER Now App. The R Baby Foundation is in Rebecca’s memory and has helped so many! Their Critical Pediatric Emergency Training and Education has benefitted more than 1 million children a year! This is such a huge accomplishment!
