Spooky Decor for Your Space

I am constantly sharing how much I love to decorate. As a major fan of all holidays, I find it to be so much fun to deck my house out for the Halloween season. I’ve shared what I am doing on my front porch. It’s time to take things indoors to the living room, dining room and fireplace mantel for the spooky season.

My kids have a lot of fun helping me decorate and shop for spooky decor so it’s more of a family thing these days. It’s a great way to spend time together and a fun tradition we now have. If you’re having a Halloween party, your focal point is definitely going to be fall decor to get into the Halloween spirit. There’s no wrong way to get started here! It’s the perfect opportunity to branch out of your comfort zone within your own home. These are our favorite items to add a spooky touch to your home this Halloween season.

Living Room

Firstly, the easiest way to start decorating for the spookiest day of the year is in the living room. There are so many different ways you can go about this and I think the most obvious Halloween theme is traditional colors. Go for those oranges and blacks and bring a stack of pumpkins in! A spooky theme can be on the cutesy side rather than scary too. If you’re not into creepy things like a giant spider or skeleton hand go for something like white pumpkins and spooky candles. Items such as a blanket, mantel decor, coffee table pieces and throw pillows are quick ways to Halloween-ify your space without going totally over the top. A little can go a long way here.

Dining Room

Secondly, we spend every night at the dining table, so it’s just as fair if we add some Halloween decor here. I like to go for candles and holiday themed dining essentials. We swap out our plates, cups, bowls and napkins each holiday season. This time, we are going for ghosts, pumpkins and witches. If you want to add a touch to the table itself, try adding foam pumpkins. Everyday items that are still neutral but in a different theme can be a great way to add that spooky touch to the space without going crazy and feeling like you need to completely change everything out.

Fun Items

Finally, this is by far the most fun category because the sky is the limit! The perfect touch to any holiday in my opinion is a brand new Halloween wreath for the door. It’s a fun thing that adds a bit of decor but can also withstand weather conditions if you want to put it outdoors. I’ll put a wreath on any door, I think they are so fun and the perfect size decoration to swap out seasonally! A few other fun items are statues, making a gallery wall of candy corn or fall foliage for that spooky vibe. Halloween artwork is also a really interesting way to refresh your space for the holiday season. It’s the first holiday that begins the holiday season and we are here to go all out!
