This week Gemma and I attended a super special mommy and me event, just in time for Mother’s Day. Old Navy teamed up with Violet Gaynor from The Glow and Thea Baumann, Goop’s Food Editor and best-selling cookbook author to host a super fun cooking class with our kiddies.
The event took place at Tacombi Mexican restaurant, in the West Village. Moms and kids enjoyed mini tapas and fruity smoothies, before a tutorial on how to make the perfect mini bunt cakes! The setting was colorful and bright, which was an ideal way to welcome spring and celebrate Mother’s Day.
All of the guests were decked out in Old Navy’s newest Havana Prep Collection, which coincidentally complimented the decor at Tacoma perfectly! This collection is probably one of my favorite Old Navy sets yet. It features tops, dresses, and skirts, all in vibrant colors of reds, greens, blues, and yellows, mixed with florals prints, and some denim separates.
I just loved the outfit I picked out for the event, a White Off-the-Shoulder Swing Top, paired with a Red Floral Midi Skirt. Some of my other favorites from the collection included, a Ruffle-Trim Tercel Dress in Light Denim and the Relaxed Off-the-Shoulder Floral Cami, sported by some other guests.
Gemma is wearing an Old Navy Yellow Floral Off-the-Shoulder Swing Dress, with White Butterfly Cut-Out Sandals. Siella was meant to join us, but a call from the school nurse’s office with a fever kept her home in bed. She was bummed that she couldn’t wear her White Tiered Off-the-Shoulder Dress and Red Lace-Up Gladiator Sandal. Thats alright, because I’m certain the girls will rock their new pieces all spring and summer. In fact, the collection is just so fab that going to snag a few more pieces for all of us!
Now, back to cooking our Orange Vanilla Olive Oil Mini cakes. After a quick tutorial on mixing all the ingredients, it was time to decorate our own. I left the decorating to Gemma, who was armed with frosting, powdered sugar, berries, and edible flowers! The one above is not her finished product, because she started eating her cupcake before I had a chance to snap a pic!
It was the perfect afternoon with my little one, celebrating fashion and moms! Thank you Old Navy and Goop for having us! Would love to hear what your favorite pieces are from the Havana Prep Collection!

It always makes me happy to see photos of a mommy-daughter bonding. It takes me back to the time when my daughter was still a little girl and I was her world.
It looks like you and your daughter had a great time. I feel so sorry for your other daughter who was unable to go with you. I am now really intrigued about those edible flowers.
Wow,.. that seems a nice event.
