I’ve been craving a new photo for my website header for months. Updating my site on a regular basis is a must for me. I racked my brain for months, pondering which amazing NYC backdrop would work best for my site’s new look and I have to say I’m pretty pleased with the results.
I turned to Firefly Photography, to take our portraits. In addition to my website header, I used the opportunity to have her capture some family shots. For most photos featuring the kids, I am usually behind the camera, but I recently been trying to change that. I want to look back at our photo collection, and see me in some of the pics.
When I first spoke to Firefly photographer owner Rachel, she completely understood my vibe grasping exactly what I had in mind. As a New Yorker, and from Brooklyn, she had shot in the many of my selected locations. Her photography is focused on younger children, which was a major perk and feature I look for when hiring photographers.
The Brooklyn Bridge was our first location. We met early in the evening to take advantage of the beautiful low light. After a round of pics on the bridge, we walked into Dumbo, using the waterfront as a backdrop. My vision for the header was originally to have the entire family on the Brooklyn Bridge, but once I saw the shot of all of us on the rocks, I knew it had to be the one. Rachel was the sweetest person ever, equipped with little toys and bubbles to keep the kids occupied. They immediately took to her, and her playfulness. The girls wouldn’t put the bubbles down, but I think that just added to our photos.
I think we probably have found a Christmas card picture or two in the bunch too. The card typically features only the kids, but this year, we will include our full family of five. Rachel is currently taking appointments for fall session and holiday photos, and she is offering great package deals. I’m so excited for this update to my site, along with some other changes coming soon!
