Thanksgiving falls a little earlier this year, which I find exciting because it gives us a few more days to enjoy the excitement of the holidays. Christmas music can already be heard piping through speakers in some stores, and the holiday windows are starting to pop up too. I’m probably biased, but New York City is truly magical this time of year! Another reason I look forward to the holidays is catching up with friends at special dinners and holiday parties.
Each year, I look forward to the Momtrends Holiday Soiree! Nicole, the founder of Momtrends was one of my first contacts when starting Stroller in the City. She was instrumental in my learning and growth in the industry, so I was super psyched for my 8th holiday celebration with her and the team! This isn’t your typical holiday shin dig with some vino and hors doeuvres. Sure, we raise a glass, but before the festivities begin, we make a few stops to check out some ideas for gifts, fashions and a little glam. This year’s soiree was super intimate, and I am happy to report that I have everything you need for you for the upcoming season.
Fashion for the party:
You can’t party without the perfect party outfit. For this soiree, I ordered a chic Cabi sweater, that can be styled up or down. This slip stitch sweater is a cotton blend in a warm ecru hue featuring a cool texture knit, beautiful lacing and cabling down the sides, stripes, and ribbed sleeves. Cabi has a wonderfulย assortment of womens’ coats, tops, dresses, sweaters, and blazers that are versatile enough to be worn all day, yet chic enough for a night on the town. I’m super into earrings this season, so I paired my outfit with theseย Marcia Moranย Teddy Ear Cuff! They come in three different color options, and make a bold statement. Marcia Moran creates beautiful earrings, necklaces and bracelets, and I will for sure be getting some from my mom and sister for Christmas!
Pre- Party Essentials:
Anyone who knows me is well aware that a blowout is always worked into my weekly schedule. It’s one of my secret weapons for tackling motherhood and a full time business simultaneously. That hour spent in the salon has become some welcome downtime, allowing me to catch up on all my emails. Part of our holiday party pre-game was a stop at Glam & Go in TriBeca, to get our hair did. I love how at this salon, you can go in for a single session, or sign up for a monthly membership, with unlimited stylings and blowouts.
Another glam spot with a similar concept is Glosslab – the perfect place to get a mani and pedi. Gloss lab, our second stop on our pre-party tour has a handful of locations throughout NYC and they also offer monthly memberships. I loved going here, because they were super quick, and the nail techs use products that don’t chip off my nails the very next day.
The Venue:
Our soiree was held at Sugar Cane, in Dumbo Brooklyn. This stunning waterfront restaurant has breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Oh yeah, and it’s close to my apartment, which was a huge plus.ย We tried all the latest menu options including specialty sushi rolls and sweet potatoes with soy maple syrup drizzle. YUM!
Our intimate tablescape was decked out with Tighemi place settings. Check out these Moroccan artisan inspired accessory pieces, a must this holiday season! And they make the perfect hostess gifts too!
A holiday table isn’t complete without name place cards. Momtrends turned to Mabel’s Labels for these gorgeous name tags. I think they are a great idea for labeling all of our Christmas presents!
Gifting:
As if a night of getting pampered, eating and drinking with friends wasn’t enough, we were treated to an incredible gifting table! Eo Creative Worksย makes the best treat bags, wine bags and stockings stuffed with fun finds. What I loved most is that the bags are reusable, and they take the effort out of gift wrapping. Gifting never looked so chic.
What an incredible evening, and seriously the best way to kick off my holiday season! I am totally in the holiday spirit!
