Friends family and readers alike constantly ask how I live in the city with three children. For me, it’s just my life. I don’t know any other way, but honestly, one of the biggest supports is my community of friends, who help keep me going day to day. They say it takes a village and I am fortunate enough to have found my tribe, my mom friends. The thing about living in the city is that I see these same women every single day. Sometimes we stop to have a conversation, other times we may simply wave hello, and then there is the occasional frantic text to help with school pick-up if any of us are tied up. They are my people, and feel super fortunate to have found them. To tell you the truth, if it weren’t for them, I wonder if we would still living here, especially with all of Jason’s travel.

Brunch with friends at The Shops at Columbus Circle

With Mother’s Day just two weeks away, I wanted to plan something special with my mom friends and celebrate! I grabbed five of my best gals and headed to The Shops at Columbus Circle for some brunch and little bit of shopping! One of the standout features of The Shops at Columbus Circle are the exquisite restaurants. I’m talking Landmarc, Per Se, Masa, and Porter House to name a few. Following a poll, we all agreed on Landmarc for our special date. We were seated at a round table, overlooking the Columbus Circle water fountain, and the portrait-like view of Central Park.

Mimosas kicked-off our celebration, as we toasted to motherhood and friendship. Sure, it was a school day, but sometimes you just have to treat yourself. We all opted for the breakfast menu, and I ordered my go to eggs benedict. Two of the girls tried a newer dish, comprised of poached eggs, faro, and spinach which looked super yummy. The other two had the salmon eggs benedict. During our chit chat and laughs, Chef Marc Murphy came from the kitchen to welcome us, along with some of his other specialty dishes to sample. Landmark’s signature Pain Perdue and a side of caramelized bacon were a huge hit, and we were guilty of indulging in a dessert or three before it was all over.

Next, it was time to walk it off with a little shopping. Our first stop was Diptyque, a fragrance and candle store that I adore. Their signature scent Baies, a mixture of black current and roses, is one my favs. They now offer a new larger size candle in an amazing noir colored container that can be used for indoor/outdoor, as well as these gorgeous hour glass diffusers that smell just as beautiful as they look. The store manager took us through the history of the brand and we smell-tested so many products and scents. I think I may have found some winners for Mother’s Day gifts.

We couldn’t shop without bringing something home for the kiddies, so we popped into Sugarfina. Sugarfina is a beautiful, colorful open-air shop filled with bite sized candies and chocolates inspired from around the world. They make candy bento-boxes in adorable packing which makes for great little gifts and of course my children love almost everything they carry. I recently discovered one of their new chocolate bars, with 41% milk chocolate from Paris, sprinkled with Baby Champagne Bears made with Dom Pérignon Vintage Champagne, and wrapped in a special box lined with rose gold foil. I mean, it’s heavenly to say the least! Ok, maybe that one is not for the kids!

Before it was time to leave for school pick up, we popped into Papyrus, to check out their beautiful cards, and other fun gift ideas. They devoted an entire section to Mother’s Day. I’m talking about wine glasses and key chains with catchy sayings like ‘Boss Lady’, pretty tote bags, and even make-up cases. In the past I’ve always thought of them as just a card source, but I will be heading back for a couple of gifts, like the ‘Boss Lady’ key chain for the many moms in my life.

Our day definitely went way too quick and we now realize we totally need to make more time for mommy friends. We’ve already planned another afternoon at The Shops at Columbus Circle of feasting and shopping!

Brunch with friends at The Shops at Columbus Circle

In a city with so many options and places to go and be, The Shops at Columbus Circle truly makes life for me and my friends super fun and easy to enjoy morning, noon or night! City living is usually about going from one place to the next and trying to do it as fast as possible but at The Shops, everything is here so there is no rushing. I can enjoy a brunch with my girlfriends and find those Mother’s Day “gems” all together. As moms, we are always on the fast track. Wouldn’t it be nice for someone to slow us down a little and make it just a little easier? That’s what The Shops at Columbus Circle offer city moms like me!
