Holiday Planning Tips

I wrote this post as part of my participation with The Motherhood on behalf of the makers of Children’s MOTRIN® and received compensation. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

I’ve already heard Christmas music in our local drugstore, which means that the holidays are officially upon us. The weather is slowly changing, and before you know it, 2014 will be behind us. As a mom for six years now, I know these moments pass by rapidly, so each year, I start planning early on to make sure we get all of our holiday activities during the season.

As soon as Halloween comes to a close, I start thinking about Thanksgiving, Holiday cards, and of course, Christmas gifts, especially for the kids. Each year, I try to make it a touch more special and magical from the previous year, so I start my shopping early, and start socking away gifts. It’s pretty hard to hide presents living in such a small apartment, but somehow I always seem to make it work, but once in a while I find a lost Christmas gift, a month or two later.

I am so ready for this holiday season and trying to stay as organized as possible, and my trick is lists. With work insanely crazy, and all of our yearly traditions that keep getting added to each year, I don’t want to miss one single beat of it. Some of the traditions I look forward to are a visit to Macy’s Santaland, see the grand Rockefeller Tree, Ice Skating in Bryant Park, and of course picking out and decorating our Christmas Tree. Here are some of my tips for staying sane and being an Unstoppable Mom that you already are:

Plan ahead – I am already planning out our Thanksgiving menu. We usually go to my parents for the holiday, but always bring a bunch of side dishes as well as dessert along.

Start holiday shopping early and online – I find that if I even wait to Black Friday to shop, most of the hottest toys my children have on their list are already sold out, so I just placed started shopping today.

Do your holiday cards now – We waited till the last minute last year and the cold temps made it super challenging.

Enjoy this time and live in the moment – These precious moments are few and far between.

  1. My family and I are planning on coming into the city the first week in December. We have a lot on our must do list but anything you can recommend would be great. Thanks!
