A few Easter holidays ago, we strayed from what has become the recent norm of Easter out West for some family fun time on the slopes. With plenty of mountains logging record breaking snow, spring skiing was plentiful this season. I guess we had to make the best of this cold weather. Okemo Mountain was our home for the long weekend, offering way more than just skiing and snowboarding for our family! Easter skiing is the perfect time to get some last high altitude and winter weather of the season.
Easter Ski
The whole family would enjoy an Easter ski holiday! It’s great if you’re looking for some fresh snow at the end of the season or are planning out your Easter break for the next year. Consider glacier skiing or snowboarding to get plenty of skiing in this time of year, you’ll want to read on! Furthermore, for those looking for snow cover and an Easter ski strip over warmer temperatures and sunny days, you will love Okemo Mountain!
We stayed in the Jackson Gore Village side of Okemo Mountain. Our condo style suite offered plenty of room for our family of five, with a full kitchen. Lodging slope side on a ski vacation eliminates the schlep of carrying skies and snowboards, especially with children in tow. The resort even has complimentary ski checks for all guests, so your gear never needs to make its way into the hotel. Using up your lift passes during an Easter ski break is a great time because the winter season is coming to an end and often times last minute deals are here. Peak season is over and while we are in the low season, it just means more space on the slopes and shorter lines!
Our first full day, we wasted no time getting onto the slopes. Up bright and early, the girls were fit for skis, and a snowboards for Ryder. We scheduled all three for a full day of ski school, which has proven to be invaluable to these novice riders. Children tend to take more away from lessons and their teachers, especially when it comes to certain skills or tips. As much as I would love to teach them, I still need to improve my skills! But I will say just coming off of my solo trip to Montana, I was ready to take everything I learned and put it to good use! This is one of the best resorts we’ve been to and going there for Easter week was so special!

With 121 trails, 20 lifts, and 667 acres, Okemo Mountain is pretty massive. They offer something for every skier or snowboarder, and we were psyched to ride. I am a beginner skier, while Jason is an advanced snowboarder. He took some solo trips on the lifts, to get the blue and black diamond runs under his belt. Throughout the day, we crossed paths with kids during their lessons, occasionally having an opportunity to ride the lifts up with them. Everyone was having a blast, and sure enough their first full day was a huge success.
The next day was pretty much the same. The kids were eager to get back to ski school, and afterwards we promised them something special- The Alpine Coaster, called Timber Ripper at Okemo is such a fun experience. Siella is typically petrified of coasters but she loved this one! They enjoyed it so much, that we went one twice in a row.
I’m all about the Après Ski aspect of mountain life. I love nothing more than sitting outdoors at a ski lodge, after a full day on the mountain. This weekend happened to be Okemo Mountain’s annual Hops on the Snow Brewfest. There was live music, and tastings offered by local breweries. To say Jason was in his glory is an under statement. Even I discovered a new beer or two that I enjoyed.
Our final day was Easter Sunday, and Okemo arranged their annual Easter egg hunt in the snow. They filled little plastic eggs for the younger ones on the base of the hill, and some special golden ones in the slopes for the big kids. Those golden eggs had vouchers for free lift tickets and ski or snow board packages. We didn’t find any of the golden eggs, but the kids enjoyed the hunt, nonetheless. This helped ease the blow of no Easter Bunny. Since packing is no joke for a ski vacation, we told the kiddies the Easter bunny would meet us at home, as he couldn’t make it up the mountain. They seemed to take it better than I expected.
After a little hunting for Easter eggs, it was back the slopes for a half day and then some snow tubing. I think the girls may have enjoyed tubing more than skiing. It may have been the highlight of their trip! With plenty of kid friendly activities, I have a feeling we will be spending our next Easter at Okemo too!

It looks like you and your family had an amazing time. Nothing is better than a vacation on the slopes. We live in Georgia, so it’s a real treat for us to be able to take a ski trip. I love it!
