Even before I had children, I’ve always loved celebrating the little in between holidays, like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day. Jason and I typically don’t go out on Valentine’s Day, since my birthday is five days later, but we cook a special dinner at home, and exchange sweet little gifts. Now with kids, we pretty much do the same thing on that day, but we get them involved, which is super exciting. Each year, we decorate our home with heart shaped garlands, hang Valentine decor on our front door, and break out the heart shaped ceramics they painted last year. Ryder, Siella, and Gemma give out homemade Valentine’s and lollipops to their friends, and I love getting a little something for each of them too.
This year, I couldn’t resist giving them an early Valentine from I See Me Books. We’ve been huge fans of theirs for a while now, and I always turn to I See Me for when gifting my kids, their friends, or family on special occasions. Refreshing my children’s library has been extremely important for me, especially with Ryder’s reading difficulties. When trying to get him to read, it makes a huge difference if he’s excited about a book, and he’s even more eager to read it if it’s personalized with his name, and names of his family members . This year, each child received a copy of “Who Loves Me?,” a Valentine Edition Storybook & Stickers Gift Set.
The “Who Loves Me” book allows you to include names of family members and friends. I chose for each book to have, mommy, daddy, siblings, and even my parents, whom they refer to as Gee & Bug. The book encourages the child to reach to the sky when asked how much each of one of them love each other. The beautifully illustrated children’s book reassures the child that he or she is loved “so much” by each person, with rhymes. It’s super sweet, and reading their brother or sister’s name within the story is a nice added touch.
The personalized Sticker Gift Set also features the childrens’ names, listing all the names included, with sayings like “Ryder Love Siella.” They all traded stickers, and they plan to make Valentine’s with the remaining ones.
For every I See Me book we order, I opt to upload a photo of them that appears on the dedication page of the book. It’s been nice to have this library to refer to with all of their personalized books, and with photos of how they’ve grown through the years. And, the kids love seeing their names and photos in print!
