SITC Guide to NYC Hotels

As much as my brood loves to trek all over on exciting vacations sometimes it is nice to take a trip close to home; in our own city, New York City. It is fun to step outside of your bubble and pretend you’re a tourist in your hometown—for me, it always restores my love of this city and I appreciate all of the little special details and secrets that each neighborhood has. We have visited so many amazing hotels that my traveling trio are experts at this point—they are room-service royalty and love to study every inch of each place we stay. I have rounded up our favorite NYC hotels that are perfect for families!

The Benjamin:
We stayed at The Benjamin Hotel back in April of 2015 and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is incredibly kid-friendly right down to bedtime books and special treats just for them like mini robes, special pillows and stuffed animals. Since the hotel is located in midtown and not far from Central Park you can make a weekend of park, play and fun—plus there is a restaurant in the hotel, The National, that is great for breakfast or dinner…and a cocktail for mom and dad.

The Surrey Hotel:
We visited The Surrey Hotel in July 2015 and August 2016. Located on the Upper East Side we got to explore a new neighborhood and more of Central Park. The hotel provided an adorable picnic basket filled with the essentials: blanket, toys and small bites from Cafe Boulud. Be sure to also check out their  incredible rooftop with sweeping views of Manhattan and comfy seating and areas to hang out.

Conrad:
A true “staycation” would probably mean hunkering down at home for a week but a short stint at our local Conrad Hotel in Battery Park City is close enough. The Conrad is a stunning Hilton hotel located right in our neighborhood, which is surrounded by restaurants, parks and shopping. The view is beautiful, the rooms are gorgeous and the kids even got little robes, slippers and a stuffed animal each. I highly recommend the Conrad if you are looking for a fun hotel downtown.

Lotte New York Palace:
A luxury hotel with the word Palace in the name is probably pretty magical…and the Lotte New York Palace is exactly that. Located on Madison Ave and 50th Street, it is definitely in the thick of the hustle and bustle—but you would never know. We stayed in the Towers, which has its own entrance and check-in. The rooms are absolutely divine and with one of their hotel packages catering to kids; they will provide crowns for the girls and knight garb for boys—along with treats. And since it is close to Rockefeller Center— there is plenty of shopping and fun to be had.

Four Seasons Downtown:
We have stayed at a few Four Seasons properties over the years and nothing can quite match the luxury of their resorts. They are located in the heart of Downtown Manhattan near the new Oculus Shops and World Trade Center. From the moment we walked in we were transported. The attention to detail at every turn is staggering. The treats for the kids were exquisite and the room was absolutely lovely. AND they have a fabulous pool and spa, too. It is truly a luxurious experience. Last but not least, Wolfgang Puck’s newest restaurant Cut is located in the hotel as well! I highly recommend it!

FIFTY an Affinia Hotel:
We stayed at the FIFTY NYC hotel located in Midtown East during the holidays last year. It is located right near Rockefeller Center and it was the perfect staycation to get us in the holiday spirit. The rooms are artsy and cool. Our room had a great balcony and a full kitchen! The central location is ideal with plenty of food options and touristy things to do.

The Carlyle:
When you think of iconic New York City hotels; The Carlyle definitely makes the short list. We stayed a few years back and had the ultimate Sophie in the City experience for Siella. But anytime of year is perfect for this gem. There is live entertainment, breathtaking rooms and amazing food options. If you are looking for a date night or staycation you have to hit Bemelmans Bar for a cocktail—it was named in honor of Ludwig Bemelmans, the creator of the Madeline children’s books!

Sherry Netherland:
The Sherry Netherland holds a very special place in my heart because my mother used to work for the hotel and we would spend time there on the weekends. I even had a birthday party there when I turned fifteen! Located on the corner of 59th and 5th Avenue this hotel and residence is still a luxurious and stunning place to stay or live. I love the charm and top-notch service not to mention the beautiful interiors. Being able to cross the street and enter Central Park was a score for us. It was a truly memorable stay.

Hotel Belleclaire:
The Upper West Side feels like a different city. The buildings are smaller and you can see the sky a bit more. But the Hotel Belleclaire located on Broadway and 77th Street makes you feel like you are out of town. Surrounded by beautiful architecture and right near the Museum of Natural History and Central Park West; the Belleclaire can totally put you in vacation mode the moment you arrive.

Langham Place:
Langham Place is one of those cool urban hotels with sleek design and a central location. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The hotel staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable with your entire family. We stayed at Langham Place back in February 2015 and I highly recommend it. The hotel is located on Fifth Avenue in the 30s with views of the Empire State Building so close it feels like you can touch it! We spent the day at the Met, ate dinner at the fine-dining hotel restaurant, Ai Fiori and the kids finished the day with a mini swim in our enormous marble tub!

  4. The last time I was in New York, I was a child and we went to Niagara Falls. I do not remember anything else about New York. What a great guide to hotels.

I always love to go to NYC. I loved my stay at Langham Place. It was such a fun experience. I will have to try one of these other places on my next trip this winter.

  6. Oh wow. These all seem like great hotels to stay at. We will actually be spending one night in NYC in the fall. I will have to look into staying at one of these.

  7. I love that there are even mini robes for the kids in many of the hotels. My son would have FLIPPED out if we had ever stayed in a hotel that had those to wear. I’m glad you found so many great places to stay that are kid friendly. Looks like your kids had a ton of fun!

  8. Home not so far away from home! I love the convenience of staycations, but you’ve really got a lot to offer as a tourist in your hometown in New York. Each hotel looks unique and so perfect for a few nights away.

  9. These are beautiful images showcasing your stays! Have to act like a tourist and do this with my family some time. Yay for staycations!
