Conventional Nurturing

I can remember vividly sitting with my hairdresser almost four years ago, telling her I was starting to notice gray hairs. I was secretly hoping she would tell me that I was crazy, and that they were just light blonde strands, but no such luck. She plucked a few from my scalp, and estimated they were about 5 months old. That seemed to make perfect sense, as it lined up with the time of Siella’s birth, which was a pretty intense experience, putting major stress on my body. It was definitely then that I noticed the signs of aging, which became even more apparent when Gemma came along. Having three children within a four year span can definitely take a toll on your body. Now, let’s include all the sleepless nights and work stress, which have yielded a few wrinkles on my face. While I try to celebrate these lines as a sign of my years of motherhood, I want to make every effort to preserve my skin and features.

I recently attended a major event for the UK cosmetic company BOOTS, which has recently become available in the US. I was eager to find out more about the line, as a friend of mine, originally from the UK, has raved for years about the brand, and would always stock up on their products, when traveling back home. As a result of the event, I have introduced many of their products into my daily routine, but their No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Serum was the stand out item for me. It is meant to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and improve the skin’s radiance by 50% in just 4 weeks.

I decided to take on this four week challenge. When it comes to caring for my skin, I typically apply moisturizer only once a day, so I need to step up my game. Following the instructions to smooth a layer into your face and neck after cleansing and toning, morning and night. By the end of week one, I immediately noticed a difference. My face felt lifted, and even tighter. I would sometimes forget to apply at night, but even with the once a day application, my skin seems to have increased elasticity .

By the end of the four week challenge, I was extremely pleased with the results, and plan to continue using the Boots products, especially their No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Serum. In six months, research shows its independently proven to restore the skin’s structure and overtime deep wrinkles are visibly reduced. I’m up for that challenge too!

In taking these little steps towards self care, it’s made a world of a difference. By eating right, exercising, and now taking care of my skin, I feel like a new woman and mama.

  1. I’m at the age where I’m really starting to look seriously at what works best for my skin. Can’t just be a drug store bottle anymore. Waaaah! Thanks for writing about this brand. I actually hadn’t heard of them before but I’m going to try to learn more and check it out!
