OK true confession here- when it comes to makeup, I am absolutely clueless. I rely on the professionals to help choose the right colors, and even show me how to apply the proper applications. I wear makeup daily, but my look is minimalist and rarely do I even attempt to apply eye makeup! As a mom of three, I’ve been forced to curtail my routines, so hair and makeup need to be quick and easy, otherwise we would never be able to leave the house!

On occasion when I need to consult the experts on makeup application Sephora in JCPenney has been a great resource; not to mention you can find fashion and beauty all in one place. I love the staff, as they always seem to help me find the right shades and keep me up to date on the latest trends! A few weeks ago, I thought it was time to change my foundation, because I found myself reapplying my makeup throughout the day. I needed something that will last longer. At Sephora in JCPenney, consumers can discover their perfect shade using their Color IQ process. The exclusive color beauty service scans the surface of your skin, assigning it a Color IQ number which reveals scientifically precise lip, foundation, and concealer matches. It’s such a cool process! My Color IQ number is 1Y05!

I chose the Kat Von D’s Lock-It brand, sold exclusively at Sephora. The sales person mentioned it was perfect for moms on-the-go who don’t have the time, or energy, for frequent touch ups. That was exactly what I needed! I went home immediately with my new Kat Von D’s Lock It: Hydrating Primer and Base, Foundation, Concealer Creme, Setting Powder. To apply all my fresh product, I picked up some new brushes too.

The team at Sephora gave me a list of instructions for my application. With a clean face, I started with the Hydrating Primer. Next, some Concealer Creme under my eyes to hide the dark circles. They’ve been a problem, for me since I was a teenager. I think it’s a hereditary thing I guess, but its really the one thing I’ve been super self conscious about. Once my bags were covered, it was time to apply the Kate Von D’s foundation, my color is light #47. Then, my final step was the Setting Powder. At first I was concerned about all the time it would need to follow all the steps, but have to say, after a few days, my new routine took only five minutes! I even love the cool packaging everything comes in, making for a messy free makeup bag.

I couldn’t be more pleased. Whether its been meetings, dropping the kids at camp, or date night with my hubby, I don’t have to worry about redoing it. My makeup has ever lasted me all day long, with just one application! To find your Color IQ and all Kat Von D’s Lock It products, head to Sephora at JCPenney. I’m curious to hear what your IQ number is!
